Wren is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a Master of Counselling (MC) degree from City University of Seattle. She has been volunteering with various community mental health programs for almost twenty years and spent her summers as an undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia assisting with neuroscience research. Wren brings an eclectic range of experiences to the counsellor’s seat and has supported clients from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Wren believes in the healing potential of every client’s authentic self and believes in the value of placing the client at the centre of all of her therapeutic work. With a background in neuroscience, Wren continues to inform her counselling through the sense of groundedness and compassion, which she strives to incorporate into her therapeutic work. Having the experience of living in multiple cultures, countries, and continents, Wren brings a natural curiosity to counselling and understands a person’s unique context can influence their thoughts, feelings, and point of view. Wren holds a space for clients that is welcoming and affirming of differences, where the client’s voice and experiences are valued as a foundation to every collaborative, therapeutic relationship.

In addition, Wren is an integrative counsellor who tailors sessions to meet the client’s preferences. She draws from a large toolbox, and incorporates modalities including, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness techniques, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Wren has experience supporting adults and teenagers who may struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, chronic illness, disabilities, childhood trauma, emotional neglect, and abuse.

Wren provides services in English and Mandarin.

Vancouver BC Counsellor, Wren Zhu, is currently accepting new referrals from across British Columbia on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
