Graduate Intern Counsellor
Evan is in his final year of the Master of Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. He is a student member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Upon completion of his education, Evan will be pursuing a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) designation with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
Before entering the counselling field, Evan worked for over 5 years providing rehabilitation consulting to individuals and families who experienced life-changing physical and psychological events. Evan’s lived experiences helping individuals struggling with various health issues have deepened his understanding of the unique needs of each client. He integrates a tailored approach into his practice to best support each client’s unique journey toward recovery and personal growth.
Evan believes that clients have strengths and capacities to overcome their challenges, and he supports them with uncovering and harnessing these strengths. With an approach centred around the importance of empathy, resilience, and a collaborative approach to therapy, Evan is committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental space for all clients where they feel heard and understood. Utilizing a holistic approach and integrating his background in rehabilitation and mental health, Evan maintains a strong focus on client empowerment at every step of the therapeutic process.
Through the lens of a person-centred theoretical foundation, Evan engages the techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and strengths-based counseling in his work with clients. Evan works with a wide variety of clients including those who are navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, family conflicts, trauma, self-esteem issues, relationship challenges, and grief and loss. By drawing on these evidence-based frameworks, Evan supports clients as they develop practical strategies for managing their difficulties, fostering resilience and building a life that aligns with their values and aspirations.

Graduate Intern Counsellor, Evan Finnamore, is accepting new clients from across British Columbia, on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. As a Graduate Intern Counsellor, Evan will be under the direct supervision of the Director of Intern Operations, along with support from his accredited university.
